My Creative Comeback
Hi, I'm Kayleigh! Welcome to what I'm calling my Creative Comeback Era. I've been painting, drawing, sculpting, and just being creative for as long as I can remember. As a child, I always had a mountain of loose paper and notebooks filled with drawings and doodles. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew older, my answer was always "Artist". Somewhere between then and now, I stopped believing that was possible. I dropped out of my art course, truly believing I wasn't good enough and lacked what it takes to be an artist, and I stopped drawing and painting for years. Then last September, I watched Shrek, and the scene where Donkey and Shrek are sitting on a rock looking at the moon hit me like nothing before. I immediately thought, "I have to paint this," so I did. Since then, I've sold a dozen mini canvases, and the spark I had as a child is back. I am on my own personal journey of building the confidence I've lost through the years.
Artistry and Process
Honestly, I don't have a rigid process. I see something and I want to paint it, or I listen to music, and the image in my mind needs to be released. I'm currently working on developing my creative vision and becoming comfortable with being different, so there's more to come! My art is about capturing moments and emotions, translating them onto canvas with a unique perspective.
A Welcoming Space
When people come across ArtbyGKL, I want them to feel welcomed. I want people to see that it's achievable. You can paint in your bedroom using paints and canvases you bought online, and you can chase your dreams one brushstroke at a time. My aim is to make art accessible and inspiring for everyone.
